Kelly, who is popularly known for her hit song Asine, is giving the Top Crew Media record label bosses a big headache as she is no longer reporting for duty or communicating with them.
We have learnt that since Kelly recorded her recent album, BACK TO MY ROOTS, she abandoned the responsibility of promoting it.
Kelly left Chico and Eugene’s record label without any notice to go and work with Arthur Mafokate at 999 music. An insider at Top crew media says Kelly has not set foot at their offices in Four Ways, north of Joburg, since last year, ‘Her actions make Chico and Eugene look like amateurs.
Kelly is always seen with Arthur and she doesn’t talk to Eugene or Chico. We don’t understand her reasons for leaving because Top Crew media was planning to relaunch her career. We thought that under the mentorship of Chico and Eugene, she would go back to be the princess of Afro Pop that we all know. She has now shown the duo the middle finger’.
A showbiz informant claims that Kelly is partying hard instead of promoting her album. ‘She is always attending parties instead of promoting her album.
When the Asine single was released, music lovers thought that Kelly was back. They felt that she was in good hands as Chico knows how to produce hits. Now it’s back to square one for Kelly,’ says the source.
When contacted for comment, Chico said , ‘My intentions was to get Kelly into the African market as I did with Brenda Fassie and Yvonne Chakachaka. I thought she was ready to tap into that market, but we won’t run after her. We are still waiting to hear what’s happening from her’.
Kelly was discovered by Sarah Setlaelo and Bonsai Shongwe, who owned Bonsai Entertainement, during a Gospel Start search competition. In 2007, the star founded Pro-Kelly Entertainment with the late Prosper Mkaiwa.
She then moved on to Top Crew media, but she is now being linked to 999 music. The big question is : will she last with Arthur? Kelly could not be reached for comment at the time of going to print.
